  • Meet MDT Partner, Richard! Richard is a detective for the MPD and has devoted over 6 1/2 years of his life to the department. Richard appreciates the friendly staff (and snacks) at the MRCCAC especially on days where investigations can run long. Richard shared, "The experiences I've gone through have not only sharpened my skills as a detective but have also shaped me into a more compassionate and resilient human being. Each case has taught me valuable lessons about patience, empathy, and the complexity of human nature, all of which have made me more effective in my work and more understanding in my personal life. A quote Richard likes to live by is, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others" - Mahatma Gandhi Richard, you are an example of what it is to serve others. Thank you for your service and congratulations on your recent marriage!

  • It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our volunteer, Shannon. Shannon served the MRCCAC for 6 years as a therapy dog. However, she was more than a dog to us. She was family, she was a comforter, she was one of our best friends. The Center was one of her favorite places to work. We are so grateful for the years we had with Shannon. We are also thankful to her handler, Jeannine, who dedicated her extra time serving the community alongside Shannon. Shannon not only dedicated her time to our facility but also found joy in volunteering at Manor Park and Centennial Library. She participated in Dog Tales at the library, where children honed their reading skills by reading to her. Shannon possessed a unique ability to perceive the emotional needs of individuals in the room and offer solace to those requiring it at that moment. Shannon will be greatly missed by many.

  • October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It serves as a reminder that everyone deserves to be in a loving and safe relationship. Love should never be synonymous with pain or fear. Leaving an abusive relationship can be an incredibly challenging and dangerous process. Statistics show that victims of domestic violence are at the highest risk of harm when they attempt to leave their abuser. This critical moment requires careful planning and support to ensure the safety and well-being of the survivor. It's important to understand that domestic violence is not just physical; it can also manifest in emotional, psychological, and financial forms. The cycle of abuse can be complex and difficult to break without the necessary resources and assistance. By raising awareness and providing resources, we can empower victims to take the necessary steps towards leaving an abusive relationship and rebuilding their lives. Remember, you are not alone, and there are organizations and individuals ready to support you through this journey. You deserve a life free from violence and full of love and respect. Call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) if you need help.
