While leukemia and lymphoma are widely recognized, myelofibrosis (MF) remains one of the most complex and poorly understood blood cancers. That’s why we’re proud to see MF featured in Mediaplanet?Blood Health magazine (?USA TODAY?) putting this rare blood cancer in the spotlight.? In this special feature, we break down how MF compares to other blood cancers.? Don't miss this must-read article on MF’s unique challenges and why research is more critical than ever.?? 关于我们
The mission of MPN Research Foundation is to stimulate original research in pursuit of new treatments — and eventually a cure — for the blood cancers essential thrombocythemia (ET), polycythemia vera (PV), and myelofibrosis (MF), known collectively as myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). Through a combination of MPN cancer research, advocacy and education, we bring together patients, researchers, and clinicians around the common goal of realizing new treatment options and ultimately, a cure for MPNs. In addition, MPN Research Foundation promotes collaboration in the scientific community to accelerate MPN research and serves as a powerful patient advocacy group for MPN patients and their families.

Dr. Kralovics' dedication has led to groundbreaking discoveries in myeloproliferative neoplasms (#MPNs), including identifying key gene mutations like #JAK2 and #CALR. His current research focuses on harnessing the immune system to target malignant cells, particularly through understanding how mutated calreticulin (mutCALR) escapes immune detection.? Each discovery in Dr. Kralovics' work raises new questions, driving deeper exploration into MPNs. By studying naturally occurring antibodies in MPN patients, his team aims to develop innovative therapies that could improve patient outcomes.? MPN Research Foundation (MPNRF) recently partnered with Haymarket Medical Education?to develop a #CME-accredited 2-part video webinar series focused on key issues central to #polycythemiavera (PV) diagnosis and treatment.? As part of the project, which is available on the myCME education portal: https://lnkd.in/gbznurUy MPNRF surveyed 250 patients living with PV and nearly 30 clinicians treating the disease to ascertain their respective views on symptom burden, PV’s impact on quality of life, and preferred management strategies.? Two MPN investigators, Drs. Aaron Gerds from Cleveland Clinic and Gabriela Hobbs from Harvard, reviewed data from these surveys during each webinar while also sharing their own perspectives on challenging issues and new research informing the treatment landscape.? Both programs are complimentary and available for AMA, ANCC, and ACPE continuing education credit.

Polycythemia vera & cognitive dysfunction: What do we know?? PV patients often report brain fog, memory issues & difficulty concentrating, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Is it due to anemia-related hypoxia? Microvascular dysfunction? Chronic inflammation? All of the above?? A new population-based study suggests PV patients face an increased risk of dementia, reinforcing the need to explore inflammatory pathways and cerebrovascular health in MPNs.? One potential explanation is that chronic inflammation and a pro-thrombotic state in PV disrupt normal cerebral blood flow, leading to subtle but significant cognitive effects. Studies in MPN models have shown microvascular stalling in the brain, where capillaries intermittently lose blood flow, which could contribute to symptoms of brain fog. If inflammation and circulation issues are key players, could anti-inflammatory or vascular-targeted treatments help?? More research is needed to develop interventions that preserve cognitive function in PV patients. What are your thoughts on tackling this challenge?? #Hematology #MPNResearch #BrainHealth #PolycythemiaVera? MPN Research Foundation has been called to action by the myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) community, including patients, clinicians, and industry stakeholders to further the study of disease progression.? MPN Research Foundation is actively pursuing this goal by building a patient registry that can capture the patient journey and MPN disease progression.? Building an MPN registry is a lofty goal that requires a clear vision to address challenges inherent to this patient population.
