Ottawa Food Bank needs our help E-I-E-I-O Here's your chance to work on a farm E-I-E-I-O ? The Ottawa Food Bank not only works with local farmers and accepts fresh produce donations, but they also grow fresh produce on their own eight acre farm which was donated from Tom Black and his family (of Black Family Farm) near Stittsville. During the 2024 growing season, the Community Harvest Farm grew 23 different crops and yielded 152,992 pounds of fresh food. This provided fresh, healthy options for households across the city supported by the Ottawa Food Bank network. ? MPI Ottawa Chapter has the opportunity to volunteer for two different farm shifts: Friday, June 6th, 8:30 to 11:30 A.M.? or? Monday, June 9th, 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. Important to note: Volunteers must have a high degree of mobility and be able to walk the ? kilometer from the main road to the fields. Volunteers assist with the preparation, planting, weeding, and harvesting of fresh produce.? The maximum group size is 10 participants.? The minimum age to volunteer, with adult accompaniment, is 14 years. Please note that OC Transpo does not service this area, but a car pool could probably be arranged from Kanata Eagleson Park and Ride. Join Us for a Spring Refresh: Volunteer Day! Spring is here, and it’s the perfect time for a?refresh! Hopewell Eating Disorder Support Centre of Ottawa is putting the finishing touches on their office makeover and are hoping to get some extra hands to help?spruce things up. If you love organizing, tackling small projects, or just want to help them?breathe new life into the office, we’d love to have your help to complete the transformation. Hopewell Eating Disorder Support Centre of Ottawa’s office can accommodate approximately?6 volunteers?(or?8 if we get creative?and use the hallway). Tasks they need help with include: ? Hanging lights, artwork, and a TV ?? Dismantling an old bookshelf and assembling a new one ?? Reorganizing, decluttering, and rearranging the space ?? Taking inventory of program supplies and improving storage ?? Shredding old files (if someone has access to a shredder) ?? Wiping a couple of old computers for repurposing ? Possible dates include: Saturday April 5; Sunday April 6, or Sunday April 13. If you’re available and willing to help, please email?Lisa Holmes, Chair, Community Outreach with your preferred date.
