From MPI SBO Community: Building a strong vendor network 1 Be Proactive in Networking: proactive networking helps you discover reliable partners who can add value to your business. ● Make it a point to participate in trade shows, conferences, and local networking events. ● Consider using LinkedIn and MPI’s Community Forums to connect with vendors virtually. 2 Cultivate Genuine Relationships: transactional relationships are fleeting. Building genuine connections leads to long-term partnerships that benefit both parties. ● Keep in touch beyond just when you need something. ● A thank-you note or public shout-out goes a long way in making vendors feel valued. ● Take the time to learn about your vendors' goals and challenges. 3 Prioritize Mutual Benefits: relationships thrive when both parties see value. Focusing on mutual benefits ensures that vendors are as invested in your success as you are in theirs. ● If you’re happy with a vendor, recommend them to others. ● Look for opportunities where you and your vendor can work together for mutual gain, such as co-hosting an event or webinar. ● Ensure your vendors are compensated fairly.
