This past Friday, we had the privilege of hosting Partnership for After School Education (PASE) for their 2025 Emerging Leaders in Nonprofit Management final presentations and ceremony. Behind this event is a powerful partnership ? between the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership MPA Program and PASE to support a three-month certificate program providing an overview of nonprofit management as well as an emphasis on adaptive leadership and management through an equity lens. ?? Congratulations again to all the 2025 Emerging Leaders in Nonprofit Management participants!

I started talking to editors about my book idea right as the pandemic hit in 2020. In-person meetings moved to video and I didn’t make it to Macmillan Publishers’ St. Martin's Press office until this week, 5 years later! It’s been a journey to say the least ?? ? I’m checking out the studio to record my audiobook for Dreaming of Home! ?? ? It’s such an exciting process, and I’m documenting every step of the way. This working class immigrant kid who grew up undocumented in Queens, NYC, never thought she would publish a book. I got here because I met courageous undocumented young people and community organizers fighting deportations who inspired me to tap into my power and the power within our communities to create change. So incredibly grateful for the amazing team at St. Martin’s Press who are making it all happen! ???? I can’t wait to share more behind-the-scenes moments with all of you. Stay tuned!

Congratulations to the MPA Program 2024 Housing Policy Fellows: Ambar Angeles and Joseph Rochez! The MPA Program at CCNY recently kicked off its Housing Policy Fellowship, a partnership with the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) by announcing its 2024 Fellows, Ambar Angeles and Joseph Rochez. The fellows will develop transferable skills and knowledge related to housing issues and housing policy, while deepening their understanding of the structure of city government agencies and the policymaking process. The fellows will receive professional mentoring from HPD professionals, plan and deliver a housing policy workshop alongside HPD analysts, and complete paid internships within HPD’s Office of Policy during Summer 2024. Angeles currently works as a Housing Navigator at Riseboro Community Partnership in Brooklyn, and Rochez is an ENL Teacher at Family Life Academy Charter School. In celebration of the program’s launch, MPA Executive Director Bobby Derival joined the fellows this past February at HPD offices.
