Meals on Wheels San Antonio prepares and delivers nutritious meals each weekday to homebound seniors living in Bexar, Frio, Atascosa, Comal, Edwards, Guadalupe, Karnes, McMullen, Medina, Uvalde, and Wilson Counties. During the last fiscal year, Meals on Wheels San Antonio provided 1,000,000+ meals to 5,320 seniors. Adults who are homebound, unable to cook for themselves, and lack outside support are eligible for services at no charge. Meals on Wheels San Antonio has served the senior citizens of Bexar County since 1977. Today, our agency is one of Bexar County’s largest non-profit organizations providing services to seniors. Services include home meal delivery, companionship for homebound seniors, and daytime care for seniors diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia-related diseases. At Meals on Wheels San Antonio, we deeply appreciate the dedication of team members like Jackie Rodriguez, Lead Client Support Specialist, who has been delivering #MoreThanAMeal for a little over five years and truly embodies our mission! Since she started working here, she has witnessed how everybody in our organization believes in our mission and goes above and beyond for our clients, and that is why she chooses to give back! Making a difference in the lives of our clients is actually her favorite part about working at Meals on Wheels San Antonio. When Jackie isn't supporting our clients, she dreams of picking up gardening and hopes to cultivate a green thumb one day. Who knows, maybe she'll learn how to grow strawberries to go with her favorite breakfast meal: waffles topped with strawberry syrup! Honoring our veterans today and every day. We're deeply grateful to those who have served our country, including the incredible veterans we have the privilege to serve. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. ?? We are closed today in observance of #VeteransDay and will reopen tomorrow. In anticipation of our closure, additional meals were delivered to ensure that every older and disabled neighbor we serve would still have the nutrition they need.
