?? New Podcast Episode Alert! ?? In the latest episode of our #MTVAUnscripted podcast, MTVA Board members Lisa Trumble John Rodis, MD and Steve Schutzer, MD sit down with Steve Wiggins a healthcare entrepreneur with 40 years of experience pioneering new models in care management and payment structures. Steve’s journey with the healthcare system began in college, when his best friend suffered a life-changing injury that left him paralyzed. Since then, Steve has founded and led multiple companies – including his latest ventures, Oxbridge Health and OpenNetworks, which use bundled payments, episode-based financing and flexible provider networks to deliver value. For Steve, the logic of episode-based financing is clear to patients: “It’s the same unit that the beneficiary or the patient consumes health care, and so you’re aligning the payment with the patient experience, they can relate.” In this conversation, Steve shares how decentralization, transparent pricing, and innovative plan designs can help fix American healthcare. Plus, we discuss how policies like the Transparency in Coverage Rule and No Surprises Act are pushing the industry toward greater fairness and cost predictability. ?? ?? Why do Americans pay so much for medications? ?? Are drugs worth the prices we pay? ?? How can we measure the true value of a drug? In the latest episode of our podcast #MTVAUnscripted, MTVA Board members Lisa Trumble John Rodis, MD and Steve Schutzer, MD sit down with Pramod John, Chairman & CEO of VIVIO, a Public Benefit Corporation, to unpack these critical questions! Pramod cuts through the complexity of the pharmacy benefit world, bringing a data-driven, no-nonsense approach to understanding drug costs and value. ??? “It’s not the drug that you’re paying for, it’s the outcome.” With #DrugSpending consuming an ever-larger share of U.S. healthcare costs, it’s time to rethink the traditional PBM model. For Pramod, the solution is simple and achievable: We can fix our broken market with a smarter, outcomes-focused approach. ?? Don’t miss this insightful and inspiring conversation! A new administration brings new leadership to healthcare agencies, and questions of how they will shape the future of American healthcare. Our guest on the most recent episode of #MTVAUnscripted is a trailblazer who’s been leading innovative approaches for decades. David B. Nash, MD, MBA joined Steve Schutzer, MD, John Rodis, MD and Laura Wadsten to discuss the past, present and future of #PopulationHealth and #PhysicianLeadership! As an outspoken medical school department chair at Thomas Jefferson University in the early 2000s, Dr. Nash was handed a major undertaking: Create a new school. There was no roadmap, but he succeeded, founding the first college of population health in the U.S. — months before the passage of the Affordable Care Act. From scraping together funding from the private sector, to creating a textbook of population health (there was none available at the time), and helping other universities launch their own schools of population health, Dr. Nash is committed to helping build the healthcare leaders of the future. We discuss medical school curriculum, the importance of aligning economic incentives with health outcomes, and what the health industry needs to do in the next few years to deliver on its mission. “The issue is, taken as a whole, how can we say that our industry is improving health? The facts don’t support it. That’s the tough reality.” >>>Listen here: https://lnkd.in/eYMyajm8 #MovingToValueAlliance #HealthcarePodcast #Podcast #TransformingHealthcare #Obamacare #ValueBasedCare #HealthOutcomes #Mentorship

Chronic diseases are a major source of healthcare spending in the U.S. In the first episode of #MTVAUnscripted in 2025, Elizabeth Boham joins MTVA Board members Lisa Trumble, John Rodis, MD, and Steve Schutzer, MD to discuss how functional medicine can help prevent and treat these costly conditions – AND improve the satisfaction of both patients and providers! “I think a lot of times physicians are frustrated with the current model because they don’t have the time to get to know their patients, and so they don’t have the time to really make some good changes that can help our patients do so much better, or even figure out what motivates them.” Dr. Boham is Medical Director of the The UltraWellness Center in Lenox, Massachusetts, she's Board Certified in Family Medicine, and also a registered dietitian. She is on the faculty of The Institute for Functional Medicine, and developed a Functional Nutrition course being used to educate physicians and health professionals worldwide! Dr. Boham uses her background in nutrition to help patients improve their health, and manage diseases including insulin resistance, Metabolic Syndrome, Diabetes, autoimmune conditions, and obesity. Tune in to learn more about how lifestyle can impact gene expression, the critical role diet plays in health, and steps providers can take to integrate functional medicine principles into their practice!? >>> https://lnkd.in/ef2mUVrq #MovingtoValueAlliance #Healthcare #HealthcarePodcast #Podcast #ValueBasedCare #HealthcareValue #TransformingHealthcare #FunctionalMedicine #Nutrition #ChronicDiseasePrevention? #MetabolicSyndrome #PatientCenteredCare #Wellness

Great conversation from SoNE HEALTH on the patient-centric nature of #valuebasedcare, and the importance of the patient-provider relationship in delivering quality care! As David Howlett, MD said: “With value-based care, we're getting paid for the value of the service that we give the patient, which means that if we are following guidelines for treatment of their chronic problems, following guidelines for treatment of their acute problems, and doing preventative services, we're actually doing a lot for that patient and giving a lot of value. So, it allows us more time to spend with our patients, more time to do prevention, more time to develop relationships with the patients and give better care, and actually have time to talk to the patients and make shared decisions about their health care.” #healthcarepodcast #crushingHealthcare

The start of a new year brings excitement and anticipation about the future. It's also a golden opportunity for reflection – to examine how well our past projections align with the present reality. In our latest blog post, Moving to Value Alliance Founding Board Member Steve Schutzer, MD does just that. Steve revisits his 2017 assessment of the trajectory of American #healthcare, highlighting progress made and obstacles that remain (as well as new challenges)! Some of his predictions from eight years ago were spot on, others... well... All of his examples offer valuable lessons for leaders and proponents of the movement to #valuebasedcare. A must-read to kick of 2025!! https://lnkd.in/et-5bn9p #MovingtoValueAlliance #MTVA #TransformingHealthcare #HealthcareBlog #WallsorWindmills #HealthcareValue
