#atMovementX every session is more than just physical therapy—it’s a chance to connect with the community in a meaningful way. Whether it’s chatting with a patient’s family or exploring hidden local treasures, MovementX providers are more than just PTs—they’re part of the communities they serve. ?? Every day as a MovementX provider is an adventure—sometimes with furry friends! ?? Today, Emily Harmon was greeted by their patient’s friendly pup, turning a home visit into a mix of therapy and playtime. Moments like these remind us #atMovementX that care happens wherever life takes us, whether it’s in the clinic, at home, or in the backyard with a four-legged assistant. ?? From surgery to the green ? Kathryn Prominski helps a patient do something they’d been dreaming of—playing their first round of golf post-surgery. Want to improve your dynamic balance, stability, and strength in your hips and glutes? Here’s one of Katie Waters favorites: Wall Clams. “I like to use Wall Clams with runners and athletes, specifically soccer, football, track, hockey players, and gymnastics/dancers. It’s great at targeting how you should stabilize on one leg while the other leg is doing something else. You have one foot on a wall and then you push out against the band while you’re balancing on the other leg. It’s a great hip burner that works on dynamic balance and glute strength. Concentric for the leg pushing against the band, isometric for the leg you’re balancing on.” ?? Katie Waters, PT, DPT in Austin, TX ?? This is an educational summary, not medical advice. Always consult with your physical therapist or health professional when modifying your movement patterns. #balance #movementx #physicaltherapy

I am excited to have contributed to this piece on steps employers can make to keep their workforce healthy. Prevention, including referring to a physical therapist first, is the most cost effective way to manage musculoskeletal conditions. Not only does it save the employee and employer money but it also allows people to stay more active, slow aging, and stay in the workforce longer. At MovementX, we are national leaders in delivering direct-to-employer services for musculoskeletal conditions for companies across the country. If your organization… ?is self-insured or looking to invest in supplemental benefits ?prioritizes employee well-being and longevity ?is open to innovative ways to control healthcare spending ?is located in the United States …we want to collaborate with and learn from you. Are we all in Pain, getting rusted? ?? Like the Tin Man, many of us feel immobilized—rusted in place—by the weight of chronic pain, loneliness, and fear. ?? Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and chronic pain now impact over 1 in 3 employees globally, accounting for nearly 17% of Years Lived with Disability (YLDs) and contributing to an annual economic cost of $980 billion. This silent epidemic demands attention and action. By collaborating with industry experts, we’ve identified critical strategies to address these pressing challenges: 1?? Pain and MSK Conditions: The Cost of Doing Nothing?? Ignoring MSK issues costs the U.S. $635 billion in lost productivity, with $3,105 lost per affected employee annually. 2?? Root-Cause Management Workplace ergonomics account for 22% of disability years.?Address biological, psychological, and social factors driving MSK-related disability. 3?? MSK, Pain, and Chronic Illness Intersections? Pain often overlaps with chronic conditions and life stages like menopause and andropause. For instance, individuals with diabetes are 2.5 times more likely to experience MSK pain, adding to healthcare costs and productivity losses. 4?? Equity, Bias, and Pain Stigma Women with acute pain are 25% less likely to receive adequate treatment than men.? Overcoming systemic inequities in pain management ensures marginalized groups receive equitable care and reduces workplace disparities. 5?? Employers in Action ? Integrating biopsychosocial models into workplace health initiatives. Employers using digital MSK management tools save $1,800–$2,800 per impacted employee annually in healthcare costs by reducing surgeries, medications, and other treatments. ?? What is your employer doing to help you get unrusted and back to your best? ?? What steps are you taking to manage your pain and advocate for support at work? - - - Special thanks to the experts and innovators advancing these evidence-based practices and providing tools to combat the leading cause of disability worldwide. ??
