"If the story takes place in a mountain town, it’s fair game for?Mountain Gazette?— and part of what makes this magazine noteworthy is the physical size. It’s printed on 11-by-17-inch matte paper, with photographs that sometimes spread across the two pages, so it’s visually quite impressive and feels like you’re leafing through a stack of posters (and, in fact, you can purchase many past covers as prints)." Thank you, New York Magazine.

New snail-mail arrival: Mountain Gazette 201 ?? ?? What an honor and a treat to have worked on the cover art of this large-format, 11x17", coffee-table issue- alongside numerous other talented writers, photographers, and creative contributors. The magazine is chock-full of unique stories and gorgeous photography of humans and animals all over the map relating to the outdoors. Love how humongous and satisfyingly matte the issue feels in print and in the hands. Thank you again AD Mike Rogge for having me on board for this opportunity.

I started my career working in print magazines (and absolutely loved it!), so I loved geeking out on indie print magazine Mountain Gazette for a recent project. What I love about Mountain Gazette is that they're building a strong brand for themselves, which lots of media organizations struggle to do. A lot of media organizations face what I call a 'container brand problem.' Their brand equity leaves with each new content release. Film festivals, cultural institutions, and TV channels face this problem. The antidote? Leading with a point of view on the world. Mountain Gazette's point of view: ? The world doesn't need another resort ranking article ?? Print ain't dead ????? They're not for everyone: they're for people with a meaningful connection to the outdoors Armed with a strong point of view, they've zoomed out of marketing their product and instead marketed their brand. I just love this little ad (which has been following me arund the internet for the last few weeks)?? For the full breakdown of the lovely little brand that is Mountain Gazette, hit the link in my bio ?

The medium is the message. The greatest creators of the 20th and early 21st centuries largely worked at magazines. Pleased to share Mountain Gazette is the presenting partner of “Print is Dead” a podcast about the influence and prestige of magazines with interviews with Remnick, Eggers, Steinem, and more.
