A popular choice among adult students and traditional students alike, our social work program provides flexible scheduling options in accelerated evening and weekend formats. This means you can complete your degree without having to attend classes during daytime hours. We offer five minors in diverse areas, to supplement any major. Whether you are looking to start a degree, finish a degree, enhance his or her education, or change careers, our programs provide flexible learning formats, strong career outlooks, and preparation for graduate school to meet future goals. When you major in Social Work, your major is more than just learning about the theory of Social Work but also learning and practicing the profession of Social Work. Here at Mount St. Joseph University, your faculty have a vast array of experience in the Social Work profession. From providing therapeutic services to individuals living with substance use disorders, to implementing and evaluating program changes at hospitals and universities, these experiences are woven into the classroom content to help social work theory come to life! The mission of the Mount St. Joseph University's social work program is to prepare students to have the knowledge, values, and skills of generalist social work practice in order for them to competently and ethically provide service to society’s most vulnerable people as well as leadership in the social service agencies that work to alleviate poverty, injustice, and oppression. Through emphasis on service, excellence in teaching, and applied research, the program aims to develop graduates who value diversity and who understand the need for life-long learning in the changing local, national, and global contexts of social work practice.
