Paddle for a Purpose Update ???? Our Purpose Paddler has given his all to brave the winter conditions, but Mother Nature reminds us that sometimes the elements are a force to be reckoned with! For the next couple of weeks, Joe will take a short pause from the Winter Leg of his journey. If there's one thing we've learned from him, it's that no challenge is too great—Joe will always #AdaptAndOvercome. A huge thank you to Steve and Kathy, true river angels, for stepping in to support the trip logistics and offering a warm refuge during this leg of the adventure. ?? Paddle for a Purpose Winter Leg Part 1! ???? The Purpose Paddler set off on the Winter Leg of the journey this week. Joe will start on the Mad River (56 miles) from Lippincott Park to the Great Miami River confluence in Dayton. After a shuttle to Indian Lake, Joe paddles 174 miles on the Great Miami River, heading toward the Ohio River. He then paddles 31 miles up the Ohio River and 27 miles up the Little Miami River before reaching Otto Armleder Memorial Park. After a brief return home to enjoy a warm bed and meals, Joe will shuttle to the start of the Little Miami River for Part 2 of the Winter Leg. Joe will complete the 81-mile paddle from John Bryant State Park to Otto Armleder Memorial Park to complete the Little Miami River. ???? The Winter leg plus shorter training paddles add 381 miles to the Paddle for a Purpose journey, bringing Joe's total to 2,642 miles! Throughout his incredible adventure, Joe has encountered obstacles that required adaptation and change.
