’Twas the Night Before Christmas – Motorcycle Edition 'Twas the night before Christmas, and in every garage, Not a creature was stirring, not even the hogs. The leather was hung by the toolbox with care, In hopes that warm weather soon would be there. The bikers were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of chrome wheels danced in their heads. And I in my bandana, and Ma in her vest, Had just settled down for a long winter's rest. When out in the driveway there rose such a sound, I sprang from the bed and my boots hit the ground. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the curtains and threw up the sash. The moon on the paint of my freshly waxed ride Gave the luster of mid-day to the handlebars' side. When what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a sleigh full of gifts—and a biker in gear. With a beard white as snow and his jacket so bright, I knew in a moment it must be St. Ride! More rapid than eagles his custom bike came, And he revved, and he shouted, and called us by name: "Now Sportster! Now Shadow! Now Gold Wing and Scout! On Road King! On Rocket! Let’s ride, there's no doubt! To the top of the hill, through the snow we must go, Rev away! Rev away! Let the engines all roar!" As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky, So up to the rooftop his two-wheeler flew, With a saddlebags full of gifts—and St. Ride too. And then, in a rumble, I heard on the roof The thunderous echo of each Harley hoof. As I drew in my head and was turning around, Down the chimney St. Ride came with a bound. He was dressed all in leather, from his head to his foot, And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot. A bundle of gear he had flung on his back, And he looked like a rider who’d come from the track. His goggles—how they twinkled! His gloves, oh, so tight! His cheeks were all rosy from his cold winter ride. His droll little mouth held a pipe just for show, And his beard on his chest was as white as the snow. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his task, Filling helmets with goodies and gas for the flask. Then laying a wrench by the tree on the mat, He gave us a nod and adjusted his hat. He sprang to his bike, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, as he rode out of sight— "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good ride!"

Increase your following distance to give yourself extra stopping time. 4️⃣ Stay Visible Wear reflective gear or add reflective decals to your bike for extra visibility during shorter winter days. 5️⃣ Keep Your Battery Healthy Cold weather drains batteries faster.
