Motherhood Beyond Bars

Earlier this month, after four years of interviews with families, countless hours of data analysis, and over 1,500 Zoom calls, our groundbreaking research was published for the first time in a peer-reviewed, highly regarded academic journal! The Motherhood Beyond Bars team has always believed that when we understand the problem we're tackling, we will develop better tools to meet the needs of the infants, caregivers and mothers who trust us to make systemic change. Our Birth Beyond Bars research is the first of its kind study to investigate the impacts of incarceration on infants, and we believe that all families impacted by maternal incarceration will benefit from the insights this study reveals.
