El Capitan is one of the most iconic rock walls in the world, rising more than 3,000 vertical feet out of the Yosemite Valley. Its sheer granite face and is known for its traditional ("trad") climbing and has been home to many famous big wall pursuits. What it was first summited by When Warren Harding in 1958, it took 47 days. In 2017, Alex Honnold famously achieved the first-ever free solo climb—without ropes or safety gear—in just under four hours. Don't fret if that thought makes you tremble... there is plenty of fun to be had with your feet planted firmly on the valley floor. ???
