Earlier this month, we came together as a team with partners and clients to pilot a new service that utilizes ag drones on the construction site. Material stockpiles and disturbed areas quickly add up and create challenges for maintaining proper drainage. Grassing large areas on unlevel terrain, in this instance a 50 acre dirt stockpile, usually requires you to bring in equipment and level the area first. We brought in our DJI Agras Series T40 spray drone, outfitted with a spreader attachment and hopper for this mission. This drone can carry around 100 lbs of seed (or any other non-corrosive liquid or aggregate input) at a time. We’re no stranger to using drones in our ag operations over at Moses Pecan, but the construction site is a new application for our T40 and crew. We recently had 4 large trees that needed to go to make room for more equipment trailer parking, two of which were dead and hanging over the shelter. Brandon and his team safely removed all the trees, removed the stumps and all the debris leaving us with a clean level area to park. A huge thanks to Altamaha Tree Service for a job well done.
