East Buchanan High School's National Honor Society in Gower, Mo., raised $1,000 for Mosaic’s colon cancer patient assistance fund with a coin drive during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The local chapter chose this fund to directly help those affected by colon cancer, specifically honoring fellow Bulldog, Kyle Archdekin, who is currently battling stage 4 colon cancer. “We have local people currently fighting colon cancer and we want to show support for our community,” says Zamuel Brushwood, EBHS chapter president. The donation will help area colorectal cancer patients during their treatment journey, covering needs such as comfort items, travel expenses, and other necessities.

Congratulations to our recent Sunflower Award recipient, Kyle Robinson, monitor technician, at Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph, Medical Center! ?? Kyle's nomination reads: “Kyle is a night shift Monitor Technician. He is also a Preceptor to our new caregivers on boarding. There was a recent night in which a patient's heart rhythm was changing during the shift. He was training one of our new caregivers and was diligent throughout his shift to ensure that he was monitoring and alerting of the changes with this patient. As the shift went on, he recognized that the changes that happened with the patient’s rhythm at the beginning of the shift then changed to a STEMI mid-shift. This led to an additional alert to the nurse, and the patient was led to immediate treatment and surgery and was then moved to ICU post-op as his condition rapidly declined. Kyle’s diligence and effort to continue to monitor, keep a close eye on the rhythm and continue to train our new caregiver and educate him through this event are to be commended. Kyle is an excellent caregiver, puts our patients first always, and works hard to assure new monitor technicians coming into the department are trained and he continues to provide them coaching and education opportunities even off of orientation. We are very proud of Kyle and so happy he was making sure he was keeping a close eye on this event as well as all others during this time.” Please join us in congratulating Kyle! ????

"I think back to the grueling months of chemotherapy and surgeries, and it was tough,” says Jeff. "The treatments progressively felt worse, and I don’t want anyone to have to go through what I went through.” From diagnosis to remission — Jeff Leake's story shows the power of early colorectal cancer detection. “The prep is nothing,” says Jeff. “I’d rather do 10 colonoscopy preps before doing another round of chemo.” Read how a screening forever changed Jeff's life – https://lnkd.in/g2B22dn4

Match Day is one of the most exciting and emotional days for medical students, as they learn where they will begin their residency training. For the first time, the UMKC School of Medicine St. Joseph campus held a Match Day celebration, marking a historic milestone as its inaugural class matches into residency programs. "This is a very exciting day, for the UMKC medical students and for Mosaic. Seeing the joy on the faces of these talented medical students as they learn where they'll begin their residencies is truly inspiring,” says Mosaic Chief Administrative Officer Davin Turner, DO. “We are also incredibly fortunate to have a medical school located within Mosaic. This partnership allows us to foster a culture of learning and growth, while directly contributing to the development of future physicians that we hope one day will join us to care for the communities in our area.” Match Day, a pivotal event for medical students, is the day when they find out which residency program they have been matched to by the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), marking the start of their residency training and their path to becoming physicians. Match Day is the culmination of the residency application process, where medical students learn where they will be training for the next few years, after graduating medical school. Match Day for the NRMP Main Residency Match is on the third Friday of March each year. In 2025, that's March 21. The process: ?? Medical students apply to residency programs, interview and rank their preferences. ?? Residency programs also rank their applicants. ?? The NRMP uses a complex algorithm to match students with programs based on those rankings. ?? On Match Day, students receive an envelope (or access their results online) containing the name of the program they have been matched to. Match Day is a momentous occasion, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of aspiring doctors.
