What a great two days it was learning more about the value of Food is Medicine. Morrissey Market shared our experience delivering food boxes for 1115 waiver programs, MA benefits, and how we bring local food into the story. We look forward to our congressional leaders continuing to fight for funding for these programs, which will continue to reduce our overall healthcare costs over time. Thank you to the entire Food is Medicine Institute team for allowing us to collaborate with more leaders in this space.

13 years ago a grad school paper about local food networks was deemed “too sci fi”. Now over a decade of developing the technology and systems to make it a reality…. Nothing says Thanksgiving likes stacks upon stacks of food boxes going out our door. The final deliveries go out tomorrow of our 1,140 boxes going to local Boston area nonprofits for the start of the holiday season. Each nonprofit chose from our standard Holiday produce box, or customized their own to include their community favorites. We love seeing all the healthy, fresh food being delivered across the state. Today we partnered with Boston Medical Center (BMC) and their Rooftop Farm team to coordinate a delivery of fresh Thai Basil to the Fenway Cares organization. The local, fresh herb was distributed to 170 families at the Fenway Community Center along with our produce box. We were happy to help facilitate this donation from Boston Medical Center. The Fenway neighborhoods in Boston struggle with high rates of food insecurity, and we've been delivering food boxes to the nonprofit Fenway Cares organization for the past year.
