The most sustainable building is one that is already built. Nustyle Development Corporation leader Todd Heistand and Tammy Barrett, along with architects Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture and their partners, has been at the forefront of converting offices into residential spaces since 1995. Converting existing office spaces to apartments is not easy, but NuStyle and Alley Poyner Macchietto Architects have created innovative solutions to existing building challenges for more than 20 years and make it look simple. The work accomplished with buildings like Central Park Plaza and the old First National Building will benefit Omaha's growing population for many years to come. ?? A group of 8th graders at Logan Fontenelle Middle School is working diligently on their project for the S.A.M.E. competition scheduled for April. Today, Don and Justin from Morrissey Engineering visited to discuss the practical applications of security, electrical components, and engineering principles related to their project. The students are designing an electromagnetic whiteboard that can protect and secure a classroom in the event of an active shooter. This innovative approach to classroom security is both functional and sustainable. As they prepare the final components of their project for submission, the students will create a written proposal and deliver a presentation based on that proposal. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to seeing the outcome of their impressive project!?????
