After 4 decades of dedication to training hundreds/thousands of people on accounting and eFinance , Gina Smith, Sr. Director of Field Applications Support, will be retiring in December. Gina has worked diligently since 1983 using her bookkeeping, mathematics, computer and finance skills to lead and innovate accounting and financial systems throughout the country. Though we are sad to see her go, we appreciate all of her time and expertise she has shared with us, and are excited for her to be able to spend more quality time with her 2 grandsons! November is American Diabetes Month. In 2021, 38.4 million people in the U.S. had diabetes, which is 11.6% of the population. If you are a diabetic, management is key to ensure no health issues arise. Eating healthier is a great way to help manage blood sugar levels, such as eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, non-fat/low-dairy products, and healthy fats. It has been shown that lifestyle changes can delay the development of diabetes by 34% and improve risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Mayo Clinic's Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center Café in Rochester, Minnesota, is taking "locally grown" to a whole new meaning with the launch of their hydroponic micro-farm! ?? This mini farm is located in the café, where visitors can watch the fresh plants grow in a water-based nutrient solution and eventually be harvested for use in sandwiches, salads and bowls. Morrison Healthcare is constantly seeking new ways to reduce waste throughout our operations. Our most recent venture? Recycled chef coats! We partnered with Chef Works to source these coats made of 8-11 recycled water bottles, and we even purchased nearly 70,000 in 3 months! This annual event gathers industry leaders to inspire and educate on leveraging technology for exceptional customer experiences. A highlight of the Summit is the Elevate Awards, which recognize innovations in customer experience technology. ? The ICX Elevate “Innovator of the Year” award acknowledges Mayo Clinic Food Services for its groundbreaking collaborative robot (cobot) program. This initiative has significantly improved customer interactions and satisfaction by streamlining food preparation and delivery, showcasing the team’s dedication to innovation in the food services industry. Additionally, Mayo Clinic’s Kelly Morse Nowicki reinforced the organization’s leadership in customer experience by participating in a speaker panel, sharing insights on the cobot program, and engaging with industry peers. This National Disability Employment Awareness Month or #NDEAM, we want to show off Annie Murray, a member of the Morrison family at Cleveland Clinic who goes above and beyond inside and outside of work. During the week, Annie goes out of her way to make conversation with hospital staff, patients and guests, and always leaves them with a smile, and usually a high five, too. In her free time, Annie practices figure skating-which she has done since she was 5 years old-and even brought home the gold medal from the Special Olympics in Iceland this year!
