Morris Museum Gala Celebrating Museum Education Saturday, March 29, 2025 The Annual Gala is our signature benefit evening celebrating the Morris Museum! Net proceeds support the Museum’s exhibitions and educational programs, with a special focus this year on our 112-year commitment to education at the museum. Mentalist Simon Mandal will perform during the evening and serve as the event's MC. He is a nationally touring magician, comedian, mentalist, and improv comic who has electrified crowds with his original comedy, magic, and you've-got-to-be-kidding-me moments. Today, Morris County Board of County Commissioners?Deputy Director Stephen Shaw presented?Morris Museum President and CEO Tom Loughman with a county historic preservation plaque. The plaque recognizes the completion of the first phase of a three-phase preservation project on the nearly 112-year-old building that has housed the museum since 1964. This first phase included replacing the original slate roof, repairing the chimneys and dormers, and restoring the wood cornice and other exterior features. The work, completed using historically accurate materials and methods, preserved the fireproof 1913 neo-Georgian Revival, brick-clad home. The project was made possible through nearly $1 million in state funding from the?New Jersey Historic Trust and the Preserve New Jersey Historic Preservation Fund, as well as county funding approved by the Board of County Commissioners.?Historic Preservation Trust Fund grants totaling $485,443, awarded in 2015, 2016, 2021 and 2022, supported the preservation plan, construction documents and roof renovation. Attendees of the ceremony at the Morris Museum included?Morris Township Mayor Donna Guariglia, Morris County Planning & Preservation Director Joseph Barilla, Morris County Historical Society Executive Director Amy Curry, Morris Museum Board of Trustees Chair Edward von der Linde, as well as members of the?Morris County Historic Preservation Trust Fund Review Board?and the?Morris Township Historic Preservation Commission.

Today, we were thrilled to receive the Impact Award from the Morris County Economic Development Corporation. The program highlighted many great companies and non-profits. Today, we were excited to host Kendal Nicole Lambert and the crew from Jersey’s Best. They toured the Guinness Collection, saw and demonstrated mechanical musical instruments, and interviewed President and CEO Thomas Loughman.
