We LOVE seeing our staff celebrate their professions during these national recognition weeks. This national distinction recognizes a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. Congratulations to Orthopedics & Sports Medicine clinical nurse Jessie Fix for being named the November Fire Starter of the Month! Known for her compassionate patient care, Jessie is always putting the needs of the patients at the forefront. Her coworkers say Jessie is the “glue” that keeps everyone in the Orthopedics & Sports Medicine practice connected. Her positivity and work ethic inspire everyone she works with to continue putting the patients first. Congratulations Jessie!

We had a scary good time participating in the Morris YMCA's Halloween Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday! Thank you to Becca and Erin from our Wellness Department and Rachel from Radiation Therapy for creating some spook-tacular trunks!

We couldn’t be prouder of Surgery RN Sam Whalen for receiving the PATIENT SAFETY CHAMPION Award from the Midwest Alliance for Patient Safety, a patient safety organization that supports hospitals’ patient safety efforts. Earlier this year when she was preparing a syringe of medication, Sam discovered a product defect that could have caused serious harm to patients. Not only did Sam’s quick actions and keen awareness for patient safety protect our patients, her champion efforts are credited with protecting patients across the country.?Sam’s actions truly exemplify the safety culture here at Morris Hospital. We are SO HAPPY that she received this well-deserved recognition!

The vibrant pink outfits and unwavering support for breast cancer awareness and research truly make a difference. Together, we’re not just raising awareness; we’re showing solidarity in the fight against breast cancer. Join us in continuing to spread hope and making an impact!

Our Case Management team is FULL OF SMILES as we celebrate National Case Management Week! These are the healthcare professionals who help support, guide, and coordinate care for our patients, families and caregivers. They assess patient needs, connect patients with services and resources, make sure patients are getting the right care, and plan for patients’ continuing medical needs after they leave the hospital, all with a goal of making sure our patients have the best possible outcomes. They truly are patient advocates and a vital part of our healthcare team. We are blessed to have THE BEST Case Managers here at Morris Hospital!?

It is said that kindness is like a boomerang, it always comes back to you. We want to give a heartfelt thank you to the group of employees and their family members who donated hours of their time on Saturday, October 5 doing repairs and clean up on a home in Marseilles and a home in Ottawa. This is all part of the United Way of Eastern LaSalle County’s annual Labor of Love. The volunteers spent time working on projects ranging from replacing flooring to cleaning gutters! Seeing the skills, strength, selflessness, and commitment of our volunteers continues to inspire us.
