Hurray! Registered Nurses from across our organization came together to capture a photo and celebrate our national recognition for RN Engagement! Thanks to our outstanding team, we earned Five-Star Excellence Awards for Fundamentals of Quality Nursing Care, Teamwork within RN Team, Teamwork Between Departments, Nurse Manager, Resources, and Professional Development Opportunities, along with a Four-Star Award for Nursing Administration. The awards are based on our 2024 employee engagement survey and how we scored compared to other organizations across the nation that use the same employee engagement survey tool. With Registered Nurses in over 50 departments, this achievement is a true testament to the nursing profession at Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers!

What a night! We were beyond honored to receive the Partners of the Year award along with Morris Hospital YMCA and the City of Morris at the Grundy Economic Development Council and Grundy County Chamber of Commerce & Industry annual dinner on March 5. The award celebrates the completion of the new Morris Hospital YMCA, which is a wonderful example of the amazing things that can happen in a community when two major, mission driven organizations and their local city government work together. We share this recognition with all of the community leaders and donors who helped make the new Morris Hospital YMCA possible.

Congratulations to Certified Respiratory Care Practitioner Anna Raikes, our March Fire Starter of the Month! Known for her unwavering positivity, calm presence, and exceptional work ethic, Anna is a true role model to her coworkers. Her ability to navigate critical situations with expertise and compassion reflect her commitment to patient care. Exciting news! We are thrilled to announce that Morris Hospital has been named one of the “Top Large Employers” in the Will/Grundy Counties Top Workplaces Readers’ Choice Awards! Readers of the Joliet Herald-News and Morris Herald-News voted in December for the “best of the best” across 18 categories, and we are honored to be recognized as a great place to work!

Who else but a foot and ankle surgeon would be this excited over a foot cake in celebration of their birthday? Happy birthday to Dr. Kyle Pearson with Morris Hospital Orthopedics & Sports Medicine!

What an unforgettable evening of giving! We are truly touched by the incredible support from our community at the 55th Anniversary Morris Hospital Auxiliary Gala. Thanks to your generosity, proceeds from this event will help fund life-saving cardiac care programs, including the Rhythm of Our Youth screenings for area high school students and critical interventions in our catheterization lab for those facing cardiac emergencies. We are profoundly grateful for the unwavering support of our community, Medical Staff, and employees. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Today, our staff proudly wore red in recognition of National Wear Red Day, helping to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease. Our mission is to encourage everyone to make heart health a priority and take proactive steps toward a healthier future!

Congratulations to our President and CEO Tom Dohm for being elected to the Board of Trustees for the Illinois Health and Hospital Association Board! Tom will serve a three-year term as part of the policymaking body for the Association, which represents more than 200 hospitals and nearly 40 health systems across Illinois. Congratulations Tom!

For more than 20 years, the fabulous team at our Radiation Therapy Center has added all kinds of special touches to assure the best possible experience for patients undergoing cancer treatment. The latest is the addition of stylish, super comfortable robes called Radiant Wraps to give our female patients a sense of style and dignity throughout their treatment. From cheetah prints to floral motifs, each patient gets to choose the color or pattern that reflects their style and personality. What an improvement over the traditional patient gown! This latest enhancement to our Radiation Therapy Center was made possible thanks to generous funding through the Morris Hospital Foundation Beckwith Family Cancer and Women’s Health Fund.?

We want to give a special thank you to the Auxiliary Gift Shop volunteers who generously donated their time in 2024. Because of their dedicated service, $30,000 in net proceeds from the gift shop was donated to the Morris Hospital Foundation! The Foundation uses funds raised through Gift Shop sales to support the areas of greatest need, from essential programs and services to state-of-the-art medical equipment. Beyond financial support, the gift shop provides a place of comfort and kindness—a space where visitors can find a moment of peace, a thoughtful gift, or a friendly smile during difficult times. Our volunteers truly embody the Morris Hospital mission, making a difference with every shift!
