Laughing Together! Recently, all Morris School District teachers attended a "Salute to Teachers" professional development workshop to understand how comedy can be a useful tool in the classroom, helping with resilience, comfort in the spotlight, non-verbal communication, setting a positive culture, and more. Teachers engaged with professional improv teachers and licensed therapists to learn exercises typically found in a comedy class to encourage connection, strong team-building, bold decision-making, and peer-to-peer communication. All things that support mental health! “Salute to Teachers” was created in celebration of Mrs. Ann Rhines, who after 60 years of service to the District as an educator, volunteer, and Board of Education member, retired from the BOE in 2021. Through the generosity of Mrs. Rhines' family and donors, a fund was established at the Morris Educational Foundation to support an annual program specific to supporting our teachers. To help the MEF support more programs like this for the District, please donate at bit.ly/SupportEveryStudent. #MSDAdvantage #wellnesswednesday #MEF #ProfessionalDevelopment
