Morris Berg Architects celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a special fundraising event for three non-profit organizations in the Charlotte community. Titled “50 for 50”, we pledged $50 on behalf of each attendee to our anniversary party for one of three organizations, Care Ring, She Built This City, and the North Carolina National Organization of Minority Architects (NCNOMA). These organizations mean a lot to our firm and it was great to see the interest that each attendee made to learn more about what they are doing for our community. Care Ring's primary mission is empowering individuals with limited resources to establish and maintain good health.?They envision a community that promotes, protects and improves the health and wellbeing of all people.?Care Ring is a vital link in achieving this vision. Last year, over 7,800 neighbors were served, $67M in care donated from their network of volunteer providers, and 948 new mothers received supportive services. She Built This City's mission is to provide industry-disruptive programming that sparks interest and builds pathways to lucrative careers in the skilled trades for youth, women, and marginalized communities. Their vision is to dismantle barriers and stigmas in traditionally male-dominated industries through innovative, sustainable practices that prepare us for a future of jobs that have yet to be created. NCNOMA recognizes the importance of fostering diversity and inclusion within the architectural community. Their mission is to create a supportive network that empowers minority architects to thrive in their professional endeavors, overcome challenges, and contribute meaningfully to the field. They are driven by 4 tenets to Educate, Connect, Advocate, and Inspire. They achieve this through various programs, mentorship initiatives, educational resources, and networking opportunities. At the party, each attendee received a token to vote for one of the three organizations and after tallying up all the votes, we raised a total of $10,000! Thank you for supporting our mission to build stronger communities! Here’s to the next 50! #50thAnniversary #GivingBack #CommunityImpact

Morris-Berg Architects mourns the loss of Curt Moody, while we are grateful for the opportunity to have collaborated with him and his team Moody Nolan on the Parr Center Central Piedmont Community College. This project transformed how the College delivers student support, with a design that was not only student-centered but also shaped by student input. One of our most cherished memories is visiting his office in Columbus, Ohio, where Curt would often drop into the charrette room to review the design process. His repeat question, “Are you stretching the ideas?”, reflected his dedication to innovation and pushing creative boundaries. Curt founded his firm during challenging times and grew it into the largest African American-owned architecture firm in the country. His influence transcended the impressive structures he created, shaping the profession through his commitment to progressive design and diversity. Though Curt’s presence will be deeply missed, his impact will continue to inspire future generations of designers. Thank you, Curt, for your leadership, vision, and the privilege of working alongside you. #RememberingCurtMoody #LegacyArchitect #Inspired

As we reflect on a wonderful #THRIVE experience in Austin last week, we first want to thank PSMJ Resources, Inc. for the great conference. Each year, #THRIVE brings together leaders from the AEC industry for connection and collaboration on relevant business and management strategies that support enduring success. This year was no different. A full two days of content on Artificial Intelligence (AI), financial management and fiscal responsibility, and strategic planning. Keynote presentations by Former Dallas Fed Chairman and current Goldman Sach Vice Chair Robert Steven Kaplan ; KP Reddy, Founder and CEO of Shadow Ventures and recovering Civil Engineer; Don Rheem, CEO of CultureID; and Melissa Furman, Founder of Career Potential, provided insightful commentary for us to leverage the firm’s biggest opportunities for the future. We even had the opportunity to attend two pre-conference workshops ahead of the conference, AEC AI Foundations Workshop and AEC MarketPRO. #AECAIFoundationsWorkshop, led by Frank Lazaro, offered us a broad understanding of how AI is impacting the AEC Industry. We also used a portion of the time together for hands-on training and demonstrations on prompt engineering through a myriad of scenarios focused on text generation…even a little fun with image generation. #AECMarketPRO was an intensive deep dive into AEC business development strategies. The day was packed with valuable content that included AI integration with marketing, developing seller/doers, and strategic leadership. One of the most impactful moments each year with THRIVE is the opportunity to connect with business leaders across the country and across market sectors to discuss the key issues affecting our industry and our businesses. Year over year, we connect with individuals like Kurt Sandman and Justin Schoenberg with Sandman Structural Engineers, Brad Beck and Teresa Beck with Beck Engineering, Inc., and many others who have been missed! We look forward to another #THRIVE in Chicago next year!

Our team had a great time in Asheville at the ASPIRE conference, where innovation, community, and design came together in meaningful ways. The conference offered engaging sessions on the latest in design technology and insightful discussions on AI’s role in our industry’s future. Erin Brockovich’s keynote on civic engagement and environmental responsibility was a powerful reminder of the impact we can make beyond our work. Being embedded in the city added to the experience, allowing us to connect with colleagues not just within the conference but throughout Asheville’s vibrant streets. We’re grateful for the chance to learn, connect, and be part of this community, and we look forward to attending again next year! #ASPIRE2024 #ArchitectureCommunity #InnovationInDesign #ArchitectsUnite #ASPIRE2024 #ArchitectureCommunity #DesignInnovation
