Last week we said farewell to Mary, a beloved resident of The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home. It was a blessing and an honor to serve her, and we are grateful for the time we shared. Just two weeks ago, we were able to create a beautiful Making Memories moment with Mary and her family—one filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of those closest to her, with Jay's help. Mary was with us through Valentine's, and in that time, she touched so many hearts. As we reflect on her journey, we hold her loved ones in our thoughts and send them our deepest sympathies.

This week, we celebrated the birthday of our wonderful caregiver, Victoria Renteria! Victoria’s kindness, dedication, and compassion bring warmth to The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home every day. Their dedication to adult day services and respite care aligns closely with Morning Light’s mission—supporting individuals and their families through life’s most challenging moments. Special thanks to Death Doula Abby Vincent (As seen in the photo) for her compassionate work in guiding these important discussions and our very own Board Member, Tina McIntosh who founded Joy's House twenty-six years ago. By working together, we help bring grief support and end-of-life conversations into the open, ensuring that no one faces these journeys alone. At its heart, the mission of Morning Light, is to provide a home for the terminally ill. That means three home-cooked meals a day, safety, nature, friendship, and hospice support. But it also means witnessing the quiet, profound moments—like a loved one choosing to sleep beside their family member in their final days, or the simple joy of an afternoon snack together in front of the TV. Like here, Miss Dixie and her devoted daughter Kristina share one of those moments. The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home is a place where families come together, individuals find peace, financial burdens are lifted, and the cycle of life is framed by the capacity for both loved ones and strangers to care for one another. It’s a beautiful little oasis in the heart of Indianapolis, and we are so grateful to our Morning Light family for making this mission possible. Marla (on the left) plays a vital role in ensuring our residents have everything they need, working quietly behind the scenes with care and dedication. Though she’s modest about the spotlight, we couldn’t let this milestone pass without recognizing her kindness, commitment, and hard work. She’s pictured here with De’Era, one of our dedicated caregivers, and Karen, our home manager—just a small part of the team that deeply appreciates all she does.
