Morgridge Investigator Josh Coon and his team recently opened up their lab doors to a group of enthusiastic, science-curious supporters to explore Morgridge for a Night in the Lab. The participants got a hands-on look at the lab’s innovative metabolism research. One popular activity involved identifying different kinds of whiskeys by comparing data acquired using mass spectrometry. ?? See more photos from the event: https://lnkd.in/ge4wSXzN

Meet Raison Dsouza, an assistant scientist in the Tim Grant Lab, who is developing computational methods to analyze cryo-electron microscopy images, trying to find specific particles in “noisy,” corrupted data. “Science is not just to solve a problem, but to understand what the problem is. And then once you find the solution, how does that work?” he says. He also develops software that leverages virtual reality to visualize molecular data and thrives in Morgridge’s interdisciplinary culture. Read Raison's story: https://lnkd.in/gZbBMhzz

The #WiSciFest is off to a great start! What events have sparked your curiosity? ?? https://lnkd.in/g5bA_syj
Take a 90-second walk with me! Every October, my team and others at the Morgridge Institute for Research collaborate with our campus and community partners to co-produce the Wisconsin Science Festival. Today was our first of two science expo days, and I grabbed a video before and during the event. Every yellow shirt you see (and more) is a volunteer offering their time, talent, and enthusiasm to inspire the next generation of #STEM professionals. I'm grateful for them, for our partners, and for my team that makes it all happen! https://WiSciFest.org
