On September 28th, I was privileged to serve as the IT Manager for Morgan TechFest. It was incredibly rewarding to witness the event's remarkable success and the enthusiastic participation from individuals, and seeing their commitment to their professional development as well as the impressive research projects on display. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making TechFest a resounding success this year, including our valued partners Lincoln Financial, Center for Equitable AI and Machine Learning Systems, Northrop Grumman, Ripple, and many others. I recently had the privilege of serving as the Partnership Manager for the Morgan TechFest ‘24, an engaging event that brought together many students from multiple universities in the region. The conference featured workshops, collaborations with leading tech companies, and an exciting Innovation Expo. Working alongside an amazing team, was an enlightening opportunity for me. I also presented a research poster on "Network Intrusion Detection in Self-Driving Cars Using Big Data and Machine Learning." After a year and a half of planning, dedication, and cooperation, our team produced an event at Morgan State University that exceeded all expectations—Morgan TechFest 2024 was a big success. I had the please of being the lead for the Swag Coordinator. I was in charge of overseeing the entire process of locating, planning, and distributing branded items like stickers, t-shirts, and other promotional items. For this role, you must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with both internal and external teams as well as vendors. Every swag was delivered on time and in compliance with the company's quality specifications because of my efforts as the Swag Coordinator. I want to thank Candice Topham and all of the Brandmakers who were willing to support us until the very end. A woman who could make my ideas happen and was incredibly patient with me. I sincerely appreciate her assistance in making everything possible. I am incredibly grateful to have collaborated with a highly skilled and motivated team who were all equally focused on ensuring the success of this event. Particularly, our incredible president Femi Mebude, who held the key to the success of the whole affair. I'm honored to have shared this journey with all of you because you all have such promising futures ahead of them. I had the incredible opportunity to attend Morgan State University and their Morgan TechFest 2024, thanks to the support from the UMBC Career Center. The event featured inspiring talks, insightful workshops, and an exciting Job Fair with top companies, including Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Northrop Grumman, Ripple, Kyndryl, Lincoln Financial Group Trust Co Inc, Leidos, and jumpstart2tech. A big shout-out to Laila H., for meeting up at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) booth—it was great connecting and discussing all things cloud and innovation! Special thanks to the event organizers, Kyla Abraham, Femi Mebude, Jaunel Panton and Beatrice Oshokoya for putting together such a fantastic event. I also want to recognize the speakers, including Scott T. As a fourth generation Morgan State University alum, I was honored to be a judge for the annual Morgan TechFest ?? ?? This was my second year participating with Amazon Web Services (AWS)Amazon It was so impressive to see the innovative projects and solutions presented by these talented engineering and computer science students. The level of technical skill, creativity, and problem-solving on display was truly inspiring. As a judge, I had the opportunity to engage with the student teams, ask probing questions, and provide feedback to help them refine their ideas. The passion and dedication these young people have for technology and making a real-world impact is genuinely exciting. Initiatives using the cloud and AI/ML for early cancer detection, providing autonomous wheel chair access at airports, and even creating accessible video games for those who are differently abled. Morgan TechFest is crucial for nurturing the next generation of tech leaders and entrepreneurs. I'm grateful to have played a small role in encouraging and supporting these gifted students on their journeys.
