What’s Happening: Bluesky continues to gain attention in the social sphere each time X (formerly Twitter) makes a misstep. After announcing on their website last week that they’ve raised $15 million in Series A financing (https://lnkd.in/gcQprY8V ) , the text focused app has teased possible creator monetization and subscription tools. Why You Should Care: A decade ago, Twitter had provided a massive value for the creator community and brands partnering with them with huge potential around discovery, growth and sharing of content. Over time though, that impact has decreased as negativity seemed to become more frequent in posts and interactions. Bluesky (along with Meta’s Threads) has an opportunity to fill a void for both audiences and creators with an appropriately moderated platform based around discussion and the sharing of ideas, fandoms and community. If done properly, Bluesky may find itself being a new Go-To spot for branded content to be both created and shared.
