MVA’s Sarah Byrne presented at the 2025 Pro Bono Institute Annual Conference in Washington D.C. on “5 Innovative Models to Address One Pro Bono Population,” along with other leaders from the National Survivor Law Collective (NSL Collective). Byrne addressed how in-house corporate department lawyers are ideal pro bono providers for assisting human trafficking survivors seeking credit repair under the Debt Bondage Repair Act. This “bite size” pro bono opportunity avoids ethical challenges that in-house lawyers sometimes face, and provides immediate relief to survivors who experienced financial exploitation at the hands of human traffickers.
