Microsoft expanded its in-house silicon! 1/ Azure Boost DPU (think storage acceleration) 2/ Azure Integrated HSM for BYOK security. This adds to -Cobalt SoC for general purpose workloads -Maia AI accelerator for training and inference (supports OpenAI inference) And, of course, Azure supports merchant silicon too. Two new disclosures on AMD and NVIDIA. Yesterday, the Azure in-house silicon team stopped by to chat. They brought toys. Boost DPU, HSM, Cobalt, Maia. I had the chance to visit their validation lab a few months back. Impressed. Lots of progress in only a few years.
