Going electric as a renter is, to put it gently, rough. It's a classic chicken-and-egg problem. Renters are hesitant to drive electric vehicles because charging is inconvenient, costly, and often unreliable. On the other hand, property owners are reluctant to install charging stations until they see more electric cars in their parking lots. When they finally explore options, most are discouraged by the high costs and complexity of the necessary infrastructure upgrades to meet their tenants’ needs. You can't blame either party, yet we’re all stuck in this loop. The shame is that we, as renters, want to do better for our planet. We bike to work, go vegan, and avoid flying to do what's best for the environment. But when it comes to your ability to switch from a gas-guzzler to an electric car, we, as renters, are stuck dead in our tracks. Moon Five plans to break this dynamic. We make adding charging to apartments simple and affordable through our patent-pending hardware and software. 1. No Utility Upgrades Required Upgrading breaker boxes, service lines, and transformers is costly and can take 2+ years of wait time. We better utilize existing circuits to ensure every driver can charge up to 7.6 kW (30 miles an hour), avoiding costly and time-consuming utility upgrades. No more uncertainty—just reliable charging. 2. An Investment that Makes Sense We approach installations like cable internet - property managers don’t buy and maintain routers for their tenants, so why should they buy the chargers? With Moon Five, the property owner only invests in the durable wiring infrastructure and leaves responsibility for the chargers up to residents. This means minimal upfront costs, no maintenance, and a shorter payback period. Plus, with revenue sharing, this infrastructure adds value to their property and generates income. 3. Affordable for Drivers No per kWh surcharge. Drivers pay the base rate for electricity and a small rental fee, saving money while enjoying reliable charging. Repairs? We’ve got them covered in the rental fee, so your car is always ready to go. 4. Badass Chargers Our chargers are vandal-proof, easily upgradable, and can be repaired with a quick swap-out.
