The Mediterranean diet has been proven to promote good heart health - which is why Montrose Regional Health will be hosting a Mediterranean Diet Workshop on Thursday, September 12 at 5:30 PM in MRH Conference Room A. Join Registered Dietitian Hannah Freese from MRH Nutrition and Diabetes Services and Judith Collins, Cardiovascular NP and Certified Clinical Lipid Specialist to take the first step toward a healthier heart!

Jennifer Eckerman, Family Center Director, and Alison Joseph, Family Center Supervisor, were recently invited to speak at the conference "From Bedside to Statewide: Improving Care for the Substance Exposed Dyad.” The conference was held by Colorado Perinatal Care Quality Collaborative in conjunction with MOMs+ and UCHealth Anchutz. Montrose Regional Health was recognized at this event for their implementation of treatment programs designed to treat substance exposed newborns and the use of Naloxone, a medicine which prevents opioid overdose. We commend Jennifer, Alison, and the rest of the Family Center team for their dedication to quality perinatal care for all of our patients and limiting the effects of substance abuse!

Dr. Alexis Garza, CEO of First Contact Medical Specialists and Medical Director of the Montrose Regional Health Emergency Department, has been granted membership to the Colorado Stroke Advisory Board. The board consists of 18 governor-appointed members with the mission of creating statewide initiatives to improve the quality of care for stroke patients in Colorado. “I appreciate this honor and this opportunity to serve our state and our population,” said Dr. Garza. “I will serve as an Emergency Medicine Physician Representative to the Stroke Advisory Board. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic condition that commonly affects one limb (arm, leg, hand, or foot). CRPS is a broad term that covers long-lasting pain and inflammation that can happen after an injury or medical event, such as surgery, trauma, stroke, or heart attack. Montrose Regional Health participated in a full-scale emergency exercise last week. This exercise ensures our readiness to respond to any situation. Thank you to all our community partners who participated in this drill to help keep our communities safe.
