Happy Founders Day to us! 231 years ago, the Norristown Library Company was established before there was a church, newspaper, or post office in our community. It cost $153.43 to build the small, one-story library. Founding members paid an annual subscription fee and one, Thomas McKean, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Today Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library is an important community institution in the heart of Norristown. As the third-largest District Center in Pennsylvania, our library coordinates services for more than 865,000 residents in our county. Our 34 library locations, four delivery vans, three bookmobiles, Books by Mail, technology resources, and community partnerships bring information, access, and education to everyone, everywhere in Montgomery County. #servingourcommunitysincedayone
