As we close out our fiftieth year, we might note that our service structure once approximated the current crisis services model. We had a hotline, a mobile crisis team, and a walk-in crisis center. Our 988 Call Center is a key part of the new model. Our hotline and crisis center are still meeting needs.

From 988 Update to Call Centers: "We have observed an increase in the number of incoming calls, texts, and chats to the 988 Lifeline. This surge began in the early hours of Wednesday, Nov. 6, and we expect elevated volume to continue for up to three days. Currently, the majority of the surge volume is concentrated within the LGBTQI+ youth subnetwork, where volume is 2-3 times higher than usual across all interaction types." The MCES 988 Call Center has also received many calls related to the election.

In 2002, a multidisciplinary staff group developed a self-help resource for our COD patients that has been adopted by providers all over the country. We just heard from folks a Utah State Hospital who use it with some of their patients. Only two members of the MAP group still at MCES but we'd like the others out there know that something they worked on so long ago is still helping patients far from Building 50.
