Today, we honor the legacy of Victor H. Tulane with the unveiling of "The Tulane Legacy" historical marker in downtown Montgomery, a tribute led by Dr. Bailey and the Montgomery Historic Commission. A trailblazer and civic leader, Tulane not only contributed to Montgomery’s community but also supported black professionals, thinkers, and activists who shaped American history. His historic building on S. Ripley and High streets became a safe haven for civil rights advocates, and his home on S. Union Street stands today as the Alabama PTA headquarters. Sheron Rose of the Montgomery Chamber proudly gave remarks, recognizing Tulane as an honorary member of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce in the early 1900s. Through generations, the Tulane family has championed education, medicine, and progress—from Tulane University’s founding to advancements in science and healthcare.
