The next step in our MRY Metamorphosis, the terminal building will feature: · Approximately 62,000 square feet · Five passenger boarding bridges, and · A modern, efficient, and accessible facility for all From the roadway to the boarding bridges, our improved terminal will be easy to navigate, with ample room for seating, queuing, and dining. METAMORPHOSIS MONDAY! ?? A new commercial aircraft ramp requires a new security fence, and that's what we're constructing this month. Perimeter fences are physical barriers that protect both the airport from unauthorized access and define the airport's boundaries to prevent unintentional intrusions by people, vehicles, and animals. Speaking of security, the MRY team and construction partners follow stringent protocols for badging, access, monitoring, and response to unauthorized entry. All airport areas are maintained in a safe and secure manner that meet Transportation Security Administration regulations. METAMORPHOSIS MONDAY! ?? Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) served a record-breaking 622,543 departing and arriving passengers in 2024. With a 19.5 percent increase in travelers compared to the previous year, this was the airport's third consecutive year of double-digit passenger growth. A new airline and destination, and more passenger seats by existing carriers all contributed to the airport’s busiest year since the closure of Fort Ord in 1994. MRY's success is our community's success, achieving this milestone together all while the airport was actively being reconstructed as part of our MRY Metamorphosis, which includes multiple safety enhancement projects required by the FAA. In 2024, completed and in-progress developments included: · Relocating the Long-Term Parking Lot adjacent to the airport’s previous lot · Excavating and laying concrete for the new commercial aircraft ramp, and · Finalizing the architectural renderings for the replacement passenger terminal ? METAMORPHOSIS MONDAY! ?? It's safety first and silver second at MRY thanks to the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) station we opened on the airfield in 2023. Another home to City of Monterey firefighters who provide emergency response and rescue for passengers, planes, and on-airport structures, the new ARFF building features: · Four bays housing airport-owned fire apparatus · A watch room for airfield observation · Rooms dedicated to supporting firefighting administration, training, dining, and facility operations, and? · Dorm rooms for crews who provide services 24/7/365. The $9.7 million federally funded facility received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, earned through achieving sustainability goals including use of suitable materials, water conservation, and efficient electrical systems. Many factors are involved for designing and laying quality pavement: · Skill · Time · Preparation · Ideal weather conditions · Machine- or hand-pour techniques, depending on the size and complexity of the area being poured The FAA's stringent testing and quality control standards call for a minimum expected lifespan of 20 years for pavement at commercial service airports. #MRYmetamorphosis #airportpavement #progress #careers #iflyMRY

MRY will open a relocated Long-Term Parking Lot on Friday, June 14, at 3:00 AM.
