Established in 1985, Montefiore Nyack Hospital Foundation’s mission is to build enduring community relationships that promote and financially support Montefiore Nyack’s comprehensive state-of-the-art medical care, exceptional programs, and outstanding patient experiences. Guided by our incredible Board of Directors, Montefiore Nyack Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Hospital. Established in 1985, the Foundation is dedicated to building meaningful relationships between Hospital and the community, while also seeking philanthropic dollars that help Montefiore Nyack achieve and maintain the highest level of care for the patients and community members who count on us as their community hospital. Montefiore Nyack is a 391-bed acute care medical and surgical hospital serving Rockland County and the lower Hudson Valley region. 2020 marked the Hospital’s 125th Anniversary of meeting the critical needs of people in the community. What started as a two-story house with nine beds, operating room, nurse’s parlor, reception area and dining room has today become a major regional medical center. Because of supporters like you, we were able to purchase state-of-the-art and provide the highest standard of care. Your support ensures that our healthcare team stays on the leading edge of treatment and technology. Because of your support, we can provide the best of care, close to home. The Foundation had an incredible week of community and connection! We kicked things off by visiting the Clarkstown Rotary Club to share updates about the Hospital and Foundation. We then welcomed Sonia Treacy, Co-President of JAMCAR, followed by a generous visit from our friends at St. Francis of Assisi in West Nyack, who donated activity bags, car seats, and essential items to stock our “Dignity Closet” for our youngest patients. We wrapped up the week by hosting our elected officials for a meeting and tour. Community is at the heart of everything we do—thank you to everyone who made this week so special! Strengthening Partnerships for a Healthier Community Today, Montefiore Nyack Foundation had the privilege of hosting a meeting and tour with our local elected officials to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Our discussions focused on critical issues, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement challenges, future capital projects, and the ongoing Transformation Project, which is now in its next phase—transitioning all semi-private beds to private rooms to enhance patient care. During the tour, guests explored key areas already transformed under this initiative, including: ? FJ Borelli Family Emergency Department ? Cardiac Catheterization Lab ? Ambulatory Surgery Center ? #ThrowBackThursday ??? Celebrating 130 Years of Compassionate Care! ???? Did you know? Montefiore Nyack Hospital has been serving our community for 130 years, growing and evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of healthcare. ?? The first Nyack Hospital ambulance was a horse-drawn conveyance purchased in 1903 for $550. ???? Described in press accounts as a “shiny new vehicle,” it made history when it transported its first patient—rushed from West Haverstraw with acute appendicitis. Fast forward to 1919, and Nyack Hospital upgraded to its first motorized ambulance—a little red vehicle ready to speed patients to care. Beep beep! ???? From horse-drawn carriages to modern emergency medicine, we are proud to celebrate 130 years of compassion, innovation, and community care. Thank you for being part of our journey! ??
