Things SDRs should be grateful for, part II: - Your competitors. Yes, we also have to be grateful for having those competitors. Every great brand, athlete, or enterprise has had at least one rival that challenges them and makes them want to become better. You should see your competition not as enemies, but embrace instead the challenge they provide, so you can learn new things and become the best version of yourself. - Your managers. Every great SDR is the result of those who came before them. There are always those with more experience who share their knowledge and guide us through our beginnings. Those leaders teach you the how and give you a path to follow. Not all managers are the same, but there are plenty of things you can learn from each of them if you keep an open ear to what they have to offer. - Your clients. Last but certainly not least, the main reason we do what we do, and our main motivation to keep on doing it. Nothing would be the same without the clients who we aim to please and make us reshape our business models in order to adapt to this ever-changing world. A happy client is the result of a healthy work environment, great leadership, and a dedicated team that arises to each challenge with the only goal of providing those clients with the solutions they need.

It’s important to remember that without the problems, we’d have no jobs. From the IT experts that solve our technology problems so we can work more efficiently, to the senior executives that make hard decisions to make sure the right people are solving other issues; for every problem, we have to find solutions that may translate into new jobs or new tools that we can learn. - Your colleagues. It’s great to get along with your co-workers and have a healthy work environment. It not only helps to boost morale, but it also can develop a great sense of camaraderie between people. You can learn a lot from your colleagues, especially when they have more experience and are willing to help out if you’re new at the company. Nothing beats the support of your team when you are having a bad day or a bad week. - Your own qualities. If you chose a career in sales, it means you have certain skills and personality traits that make you suitable for it. Do not be hard on yourself, and always look at the positive side of things and the qualities that make you suitable for the career path you chose. The ability to listen, the resilience, the ambition, the courage to overcome failures, and the need to learn and become better are traits that you shouldn’t overlook and nurture, your clients will notice in the long run.
