Converse Consultants is proud to have provided the geotechnical engineering, materials testing and inspection services for the World’s largest groundwater project of this type – the Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS). The project consisted of modifying from 70 MGD to a total of 130 MGD Advanced Water Treatment Facility. The expansion required the construction of new structures, two 7.5 MG storage tanks, 54-inch dia. pipeline, UV facility, two new UV trains, a decarbonation tower, a lime saturator, new RO trains, hypochlorite storage tanks, dosing pumps, surge tank, concrete diversion box, AV/AR valves and other modifications and upgrades. ? Our project team included Dr. Hashmi Quazi, Dr. Siva K. Sivathasan, PhD, PE, GE, DGE,QSD,F. ASCE, Sean Castillo, Manny Liwag, Sri Srikanth, Kathy Laurel, Penney Munns, Aleksey Zhukov, Tony Maciel, and Babak Abbasi; and our contract amount totaled nearly $1.4 million. ? From OCWD’s press release for the dedication ceremony, “the GWRS now provides up to 130 million gallons of water a day, supporting 2.5 million people and businesses in north and central Orange County. Since its operational inception in January of 2008, the GWRS has produced more than 400 billion gallons of water and counting. This final expansion is an immense collaboration of innovation and foresight between OCWD and the Orange County Sanitation District (OCSAN).?Both agencies are grateful to our many partners such as Converse for their dedication to this project.“ ? Converse Consultants held its Board of Directors meeting recently and congratulates our team for a job well done during the 2023 year, and for being a part of the continued success and profitability this year. A quick summary of what management is doing to show appreciation and recognition of our accomplishments includes the employer matching 401(k) contributions. This offers an additional 100% increase already paid out in 2024 related to the 2023 plan year, and the same employer match increase is approved for the upcoming year. Converse Consultants also repays team dedication with our yearend bonus program, employee “years of service” recognition cash awards, companywide gift cards/cash during the yearend holidays, and compensatory time off available to full-time salaried staff working over 40 hours a week, excluding management. Even as medical and dental insurance benefit premiums increase for the company every year, we again did not pass along those added costs to employees. We continue to fully pay for all long-term disability insurance for our full-time employees as well. The Board also discussed various other benefits, including an additional paid holiday for all full-time employees. Continuing from 2023, we are optimistic that our 2024 profits will again allow us the opportunity to provide full-time employees who are enrolled in one of our health insurance plans, $500 to help with the rising costs of medical expenses. These are but a few of the exciting things going on behind the scenes at Converse Consultants. To carry our current success into the future, we must all continue to work as a team to achieve the overall company goals of managing profitable operations as efficiently, effectively and as mindfully as possible for the benefit of our team and clients of Converse Consultants.
