We're excited to introduce our newest franchisee, Melissa Oliver.?Melissa joins from a background in teaching and production and as a class customer.?She decided to invest in an existing franchise, rather than a new one, so we've asked her a few questions just 8 weeks since launching her classes! Tell us what your first weeks owning your business have been like? “It’s a thrill learning?what goes in to running your own business, there’s lots to learn, both easy and tricky, but it all just helps you grow.?A?highlight is seeing the positive effort my teachers put into class and how?they?enjoy what?they're?doing.?I’ve found refocusing on business, not personal, when it comes to social media a challenge but I’m getting there!?Having bought an existing business, I’m overwhelmed with the local support and I love meeting so many new faces.” Have you found anything surprising or unexpected? “Initially you think running a Monkey Music franchise is just classes, so learning what actually goes into running a business was a bit overwhelming initially, but also really exciting.” What support have you received from Head Office? “They've been the best.?I'd say my weekly call with the Franchise Support Manager as ‘a warm hug each week’. Knowing Head Office is there to help, with any need, especially in the first year is a huge?relief.?I needed lots of support with marketing but I've learnt so much from the Marketing Manager already." What are you looking forward to most? “I'm excited to see the business?grow!?I check the dashboard daily and see the numbers?increase and it?makes it all worth it. I hope to get more classes running soon and be the talk of the town (in a good way!)." How have your family reacted to you being a business owner? “They've been amazing.?My daughter pretends to run Monkey Music classes each day, wearing my teaching shirt and everything!?Just knowing everyone supports me is a great feeling.” What parts of running the business have you enjoyed most so far? “I love knowing the?families?are in for?such?a great experience.?I was a customer for 4 years previously, so getting to?share it with others has been my biggest joy." ?Which of your strengths works well owning a Monkey Music business? "Having worked with children and families as a teacher helps when communicating with other parents." What would you say to someone considering owning a Monkey Music business? "I'd 100% tell them to go for it! It's lots of work at first, but once you get going, it’s all so worth it!" Headed up by our founder and CEO Angie, our Head Office Support Team, our teacher trainers and specially invited guest presenters, TeacherFest is an opportunity for our incredible team of Monkey Music business owners and teachers to come together from across the country for an interactive day of sharing ideas and best practices.?? ? This year’s theme - ‘Everything at Monkey Music Happens for a Reason’ looks at why everything we do and say at Monkey Music, happens for a reason – the day is action packed with?informative workshops on how music and our original curricula supports early development, including a session on how our teachers can support those families and children with special educational needs. A panel of experienced Monkey Music teachers will also be sharing their insights and ideas about how to manage things in class when things may not go according to plan...?? ? Monkey Music teachers are chosen for their infectious musical energy and natural connection with children and young families. Once selected they have to complete and pass a rigorous Monkey Music teacher training programme before being invited to join their local team to sing, dance and play the Monkey Music way.?? ??
