Today, as we celebrate German Unity Day (Tag der Deutschen Einheit), we reflect on the importance of unity, freedom and peace for all humans. I grew up in a divided Germany and visiting East Berlin in the 80s was simply surreal. It was a truly historic moment when on October 3rd 1990, 34 years ago, East and West Germany became one state again, free and democratic. #GermanUnityDay #Unity #Freedom

Large translation agencies are terrible for our industry. Their race to the bottom with no regard for quality, human relationships or fair compensation not only makes it harder and harder for small, quality-minded agencies like us to compete but also makes it harder and harder for us to find and engage the really good translators who are either leaving the industry, hesitant to work for any agency, or simply too busy with a select roster of good clients.

Today, we join the world in celebrating the International Day of Democracy. This day serves as a powerful reminder of the fundamental principles that underpin a just and equitable society - freedom, equality, and the right to participate in the decisions that shape our lives. Democracy, while far from perfect, represents the best system we have for ensuring that the voices of the people are heard. Let's celebrate the progress we've made, while acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead.
