The second edition of AIMDay: Maths AI and Energy meet industry was a huge success. AIMDay?serves as a unique platform that brings together academics and industry leaders to exchange ideas, share expertise, and explore innovative solutions to real-world problems. On this occassion, we co-hosted the event with Monash Science , School of Mathematics, Monash Energy Institute and RACE for 2030. Our Research Director, Andrea Collevecchio joined efforts with Roger Dargaville, Tim Garoni, Sarah Goodwin, Kais Hamza, Bill Lilley, and Markus Wagner to deliver an engaging event with active participation from over 75 attendees, including representatives from 7 industry organisations. AIMDay Nov 14th, 2024 We had the privilege of hosting ?AIMDay on Nov 14th: an event uniting academia and industry through interactive discussions to create stronger partnerships. AIMDay?serves as a unique platform that brings together academics and industry leaders to exchange ideas, share expertise, and explore innovative solutions to real-world problems. This year’s event was jointly organized by?Monash Science , the?School of Mathematics, the?Monash Data Futures Institute, the?Monash Energy Institute and RACE for 2030. I had the honor of co-organizing this initiative with??Roger Dargaville, Tim Garoni,?Sarah Goodwin, ?Kais Hamza, Bill Lilley, Yiting Xie, Markus Wagner. I would like to extend my gratitude to Joanna Batstone, PhD and Claudia Del Campo, PhD Stuart Mills Hanif Bhuiyan, PhD for their support in the design/organization of the event. The event witnessed active participation from over 75 attendees, including representatives from 7 industry organizations, that submitted 8 questions. Through carefully facilitated ideation sessions, participants engaged in vibrant discussions to brainstorm strategies addressing the current and future challenges of the energy sector. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to?Monash University academics?for their expertise and contributions in?Mathematics, AI and?Energy. A special acknowledgment goes to our distinguished industry partners—CSIRO,?RACE for 2030, Opturion, ?Jemena, Powercor,??Veritas Tech, Wattsap Energy Solutions for sharing their invaluable perspectives and real-world challenges. These contributions provided a strong opportunity to connect scientific research with practical applications. I look forward to continuing these discussions. We are in the process of creating working groups on each of the questions.
