This past Friday, some of the Monarch team shut their laptops and caught a Maine Mariners game with a few of our amazing clients. The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has unveiled its proposed update to HIPAA/HITECH, introducing significant changes. Among these updates is a modernization of language for the current era, with a focus on eliminating the term "Addressable." Additionally, the proposal discussion sheds light on the healthcare sector's shortcomings in effectively cataloging their systems and executing thorough risk analyses. It is evident that without robust enforcement from DHHS or the Office for Civil Rights (OCR), the anticipated improvements may not materialize, irrespective of the regulatory adjustments. We are thrilled to announce that we have been officially Authorized by the Cyber-AB as a CMMC Third-Party Assessment Organization (C3PAO) under CFR 32. "Wait, weren't you already Authorized?" Yes and no. All authorized C3PAOs and Assessors, including us, underwent a secondary authorization process following the final CFR 32 rule. The new requirements from the CFR 32 had to be verified by the Cyber-AB before we could proceed with Certification Assessments. Today is the first day that new C3PAOs were approved. At Monarch ISC, we take pride in our team of three Lead Certified CMMC Assessors, with a fourth awaiting the final Tier 3 background check, along with a Certified CMMC Professional on staff. We operate without contractors or 1099s, ensuring a dedicated and cohesive approach to every assessment. Our schedule is filling up fast.
