Staff enjoyed carnival games, food, drinks, and snacks including a snow cone machine and cotton candy machine. We had five courageous volunteers for the dunk tank: Elijah Krieg, LNHA, LALD, Site Administrator at Oaklawn and his wife, ????????????; John Schlack, Regional Director of Operations, Mike Marchant, VP of Operations; and ????????????, a Nursing Assistant in Training at Oaklawn. The Oaklawn team has worked hard over the past few years to improve and continue to provide amazing care for its residents and community. In observation of National Suicide Prevention Month, we want to share some relevant statistics on mental health in the U.S.: ?? 1 in 5 adults—43.8 million or 18.5%—experiences mental illness in a given year ?? 46% of homeless adults staying in shelters have a mental illness and/or substance use disorder ?? 60% of all adults and almost 50% of all youth ages 8-15 with a mental illness received no mental health services in the previous year ??
