Our founder, Reshma Saujani, spoke with Moira Forbes at the Forbes Future of Work Summit to discuss the economic implications of child care. Companies have consistently overlooked child care as an essential benefit, even though we know parents can't work without it. Now, our research with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) shows that investing in child care can deliver a 425% return on investment through increased productivity, retention, and loyalty. We've reached our breaking point. We need companies to take a stand and urge elected officials to prioritize child care solutions. Drop a comment if you've missed work due to child care challenges.???♀??? The child care crisis is not just a family issue—it's an economic one. And last night, the debate failed to highlight just how crucial investing in accessible and affordable child care is for the well-being of families and the strength of the American workforce. ? The number of Americans absent from work to care for children returned to an all-time high last month. ? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, an estimated 69,000 employees reported being absent from work in August because of child care problems — matching a record for that month and continuing a post-pandemic trend. We need to prioritize solutions that support working parents. Now. #GetChildCareontheRecord (via NBC News / Rob Wile)

Moms' group chats this morning are looking a lot like this. . . One big thing was missing from last night's presidential debate: child care. Like all of you, we are disappointed that ABC News failed to ask the candidates for their plans to fix our broken child care system. But this fight isn't over. There are still 55 days until the election and we all know we need more than the candidates at the top of the ticket on the record on child care if we have any hope of making *real* change. Over the past several weeks, moms have taken action in over 20 states across the country, sharing their stories, writing letters in their local papers, and hosting meetups to organize their communities around child care. Here's where you come in: we have 5 motherhood meetups coming up in California, Utah, Nevada, Kansas, and Ohio. If you live nearby, you can RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/eaSciRUT For the rest of you, we've made it super easy to host a meetup of your own. Check out our campaign hub to learn how to host a Motherhood Meetup in your community: https://lnkd.in/ez7vwShn

Moms shouldn’t feel alone in figuring out how to afford child care — or feel ashamed to talk about it. Ahead of tomorrow's debate, let’s make sure?ABC News?hears us loud and clear: Ask the candidates for their plan to make child care more affordable for American families.? ? Moms, let's parent out loud. Tag?ABC News below & tell them what you pay for child care. Together, we can make our voices impossible to ignore. ??
