The Importance of Time for Single Moms to Just Be Single moms are some of the most resilient people on the planet. They wear countless hats—parent, employee, provider, decision-maker, caregiver—and often balance all of them without pause. But underneath those roles lies a person who deserves time to breathe, reflect, and simply be. Taking time to exist outside of responsibilities is not a luxury; it’s essential. When single moms prioritize rest, relaxation, and self-connection, they recharge their energy, improve their mental clarity, and strengthen their emotional resilience. Rest is the foundation for showing up fully—for their children, their jobs, and themselves. Without regular moments to step away from the demands of life, burnout becomes a risk. But when single moms take the time to honor themselves—not as a mom or a professional, but as an individual—they experience growth, fulfillment, and joy that spills into every other part of their lives. Whether it’s a walk, a quiet morning with coffee, journaling, or a pampering session, moments of self-care are not selfish; they are vital acts of self-preservation. By carving out time to rest, single moms remind themselves—and their children—that their well-being matters, too. So to all the single moms out there: You are enough, just as you are. And taking time for yourself only makes you stronger, happier, and better equipped to face whatever life brings.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Moms In Sync! Today, we celebrate the beauty of family and togetherness while recognizing the complex history of this day. For our Indigenous brothers and sisters, this is not a time of celebration, and we extend our deepest sympathy and respect for their experiences. To all single moms, we hope you take a moment to enjoy the love and warmth of your family. Remember, self-care and connection are vital—just like the strength you show every day. Wishing everyone a meaningful day filled with reflection, gratitude, and compassion.

Dealing with overstimulation in children can be challenging, especially as a single mom, but with some intentional strategies, you can help maintain calmness for both you and your child. Signs of Overstimulation Children, especially toddlers, can become overstimulated when exposed to too much noise, activity, or sensory input. Signs include: ? Increased crankiness or meltdowns. ? Difficulty focusing or calming down. ? Hyperactivity or resistance to direction. Steps to Help Your Child Calm Down 1. Create a Calming Space Set up a quiet area in your home where your child can relax. Fill it with soft pillows, books, or a favorite stuffed animal to help them decompress. 2. Stick to Routines Overstimulation often happens when routines are disrupted. Maintaining a consistent daily schedule for meals, naps, and playtime helps your child feel secure and grounded. 3. Use Gentle Communication Speak softly and calmly to model the behavior you want your child to adopt. Avoid raising your voice, as it can heighten their distress. 4. Engage in Sensory Play Simple sensory activities like water play, kinetic sand, or even a sensory bottle can help regulate your child’s emotions. 5. Practice Deep Breathing Together Teach your child simple breathing exercises. For instance, pretend to blow out candles or smell flowers. This helps slow their heart rate and calms their nervous system. Caring for Yourself as a Single Mom Your energy impacts your child’s mood. If you’re stressed, it can transfer to them. To stay calm: ? Take Breaks When Possible: Use naptime or bedtime to recharge with activities you enjoy. ? Simplify Tasks: Don’t overcommit; prioritize what’s essential. ? Find Support: Connect with other single moms or loved ones for advice or help. By staying patient, empathetic, and proactive, you can manage overstimulation effectively while ensuring both you and your child find moments of peace amidst the chaos.

Happy Veterans Day from Moms In Sync! Today, we honor and celebrate the bravery, sacrifice, and resilience of our veterans. As a woman veteran-owned nonprofit led by a single mom for single moms, Veterans Day holds a special place in our hearts. Being founded by a mom who served means a deeper understanding of the strength and determination it takes to serve the country and then come home to serve families. This day reminds us of the power of support, community, and the dedication we all bring to our children and each other. From Moms In Sync, we thank all veterans for their service and are especially proud to stand beside the strong moms who continue to show courage in all they do, both in service and in motherhood.

“My time is the best time” because it’s when I get to focus solely on myself—no distractions, no expectations, just me. In a world that constantly demands from moms, taking the time to be alone isn’t just a luxury; it’s an essential form of self-care and self-love. It allows me to reconnect with who I am beyond my responsibilities. Doing things alone, whether it’s reading, walking, or enjoying a quiet meal, creates space to reflect, recharge, and rejuvenate. For many moms, especially single moms, the idea of spending time alone can feel impossible or even selfish. But prioritizing “me time” is a radical act of love—both for ourselves and for our children. When we make space for ourselves, we show our kids the importance of self-worth and that taking care of ourselves makes us stronger, more patient, and more present for them. More moms should embrace the beauty of solitude. It’s an opportunity to tune in to what we need mentally, emotionally, and physically, which in turn benefits our entire family. Let’s normalize doing things alone, reclaim our time, and nurture our well-being unapologetically.

“Taking time for yourself doesn’t always have to cost a thing, but it can pour so much positivity into your life. A quiet walk in nature, journaling your thoughts, practicing mindfulness, or attending your churches event can recharge your energy and renew your spirit. Moms, never forget that self-care can be found in the simplest moments. You deserve it! #SelfCare #MomsInSync #FreeAndFulfilling #TakeTimeForYou”
