The Future of Mentorship is Here: Introducing the MoMentors Platform. After working with countless students—through 1:1 sessions, university talks, and campus events—we kept hearing the same challenges: ?? "I have no idea what career path or next step is right for me.” ?? “I’ve applied to so many internships and jobs, but I’m struggling to land one.” ?? “I’m graduating soon, and I have no clue what’s next.” So, we built the solution. ?? ?? Our mission has always been clear: to create momentum in students’ lives through mentorship, equipping them with the skills, mindset, and roadmap to navigate the transition from college to career successfully. The reality is, colleges often fall short in preparing students for the real world. MoMentors changes that with: ? A community-driven platform where students can connect with industry professionals and other like minded students across the U.S. ? Tailored 1:1 mentorship that provides guidance every step of the way ? Courses that teach you what colleges often leave out of their curriculum Every student deserves to step into their future with confidence, a clear path, and the support to succeed. ?? Can not agree more with Gary Vaynerchuk here. Your major does not determine your career. Nor does your first job post-grad. Never stop learning, exploring, developing skills and finding the things that give YOU energy. Life is a journey, not a destination. #KeepTheMo

At 30, you're not supposed to have your career figured out. At 28 years old, I was in the basement of a liquor store packing wine in boxes to ship. That’s what I was doing for my career: packing wine and shipping it out. I was the help. I was in a warehouse. The fact that people actually think at 18, 22 or 30 years old you have to have your life figured out is ridiculous. Let me promise you, all those parents, uncles, and grandparents that pushed down your throat that you have to figure it out by now—they still haven’t figured it out. People lose it at 30. Meanwhile, they’re just kids.

"After careful review of your experience, we have decided not to move forward with your application at this time." Ever seen this before? Application responses just like this one are immensely common (assuming you even get a response ???? ??????). These are the things you can do to tilt the scales in your favor: ? ???????? ?? ???????????????? ????????????????????: Perhaps the most effective way to avoid the fast track to an automated rejection is to make as many authentic connections as you can within the company. ? ???????????????? ???????? ?????????????????????? ??????????????????: Companies are increasingly using predictive models to filter out candidates that don't stand out. Reach out to us to learn more about how to optimize your resume and cover letter for ATS! ? ?????? ?????????????????? ???? ??????????????????: Some applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and some aren't. Still, though, a company may continue to accept applications even though their final candidates are in the pipeline already. Learn as much as you can about each company's timeline (the best way to do this is to make a personal connection). #KeepTheMo

Recently, we had the opportunity to speak with a long-time Google advocate and veteran, who shared her tips in staying successful in a fast-paced industry. 5?? Do not be concerned about the title, be concerned about the opportunities to grow. ? Be multi-threaded in different industries. Cross-pollinate your skills across different sectors for sought-after knowledge and job security. ? Emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and empathy are the most underdeveloped skills in the tech industry. ? Success is found in the ability to thrive in ambiguity. ?? Is this what you expected from a Google veteran? #TechCareerTips #Google #CareerGrowth #InnovationMindset

Austin Belcak, this is so key. Not only does it allow you to learn more about the role/company and if it's the right fit for you, it also gives you more leverage throughout the interviewing and hiring process.

3 Contacts With The Best Chance To Get You Hired (& 2 Easy Ways To Find Them): Networking for your job search? Some contacts are going to be more valuable than others. Here are the ones we've seen the most success with when it comes to our clients: 1. Start By Understanding The Org Chart Most corporate structures operate with a similar org chart: ?- Chief [Department] Officer ?- VP, [Department] ?- Director, [Department] ?- Manager, [Department] ?- Individual Contributors These can vary by industry and the titles can change though, so use LinkedIn to look up employees and get a feel for the org chart (you can compare each employee’s experience to their title). 2. The Hiring Manager Is Your Top Priority The hiring manager for the role is going to be the person with the most influence over your ability to get hired. You usually won’t know who that is with certainty though. So go ahead and find 2-3 people whose job title aligns with the level above the role you’re applying for. (E.g. applying for a Manager position? Look for a Director in the same dept.) 3. Peers Are The Next Best Option Peers are people who work at the company and hold the same title as the job you’re targeting (preferably in the same org). For example, if you’re targeting a Senior Director of Marketing role? You want to look for other Directors and Senior Directors. These people will likely be part of the interview process and have the hiring manager’s ear. 4. Colleagues On Supporting Teams The next tier of influence are colleagues who work on supporting or adjacent teams. For example, if the role is a Enterprise Sales Executive role, you could look at: ?- Sales Executives on other teams ?- Colleagues in roles who support sales ?- Etc. These people likely have relationships with the people on the hiring team. 5. How Many People Should You Find Per Company? If you’re doing this right, you should be tracking your job search efforts and using that data to tell you how many contacts you need. But if you’re not, our default recommendation is around 10-15 contacts per company. That means that, even with a 10% success rate around referrals, you’ll still land one. 6. How Do You Find These Contacts? The first method uses LinkedIn’s people search: 1. Head to LinkedIn 2. Run a search for the job title of the tier of contact you’re targeting 3. Use the “Company” filters to filter for your target company Boom! There’s a list of all the people in that role. 7. How Do You Find These Contacts? The second method is uses LinkedIn’s post search: 1. Run a search for the job title on LinkedIn 2. Filter for “Posts” 3. Under “More Filters” use the “Author’s Company” filter and add your target company 4. Now you’ll see any posts about hiring for the job title you want - their authors are probably good people to connect with

The interview rate on college student job applications is just 2%. How can you move the needle? ?? Even with stellar qualifications and a beautiful resume, your application is often buried with a thousand others. The key to improving your chances? Networking. Your network is your largest asset when searching for a job, so don't underestimate it. If your network is small (it's probably larger than you think), it's never too late to grow it.
