35% of women have declined or delayed a promotion due to personal or family obligations. This stat frustrates me. I know the data is accurate because I hear this regularly. It pinpoints the "suffer in silence" that I see much of. Recently, I discussed working motherhood on a panel. When asked if I ever sidestepped my career in order to juggle better, my response was, "Absolutely not." I chose to pursue both paths fiercely, doing it my own way. While my choice may not suit everyone, it emphasizes the importance of having the freedom to choose the path.
