The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation, in collaboration with Passport by Molina Healthcare, announced a $20,000 donation to Simmons College of Kentucky to fund scholarships for students in need of financial assistance. Passport’s support of Kentucky’s First Historically Black College or University (HBCU) builds on the college’s efforts to address societal inequities through education. The MolinaCares Accord, in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Florida, donated $75,000 in support of hurricane recovery efforts throughout the state. The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation (MolinaCares), in collaboration with Passport by Molina Healthcare, donated $25,000 to the Rita June Foundation, Inc. to support its efforts to combat food insecurity through the organization’s pantry program. The MolinaCares funding is the largest donation ever for the Louisville-based pantries. The donation will purchase 9,500 pounds of food. According to Feeding America’s most recent data, nearly 102,000 individuals were considered food insecure in 2022 in Jefferson County. That’s up from 77,700 in 2021, marking a 31% increase in just one year. From 2019 to 2023, the price of food rose by 25%. To address the growing need the Rita June Foundation, started by LDG Development, Inc., opened five strategically-located pantries in affordable housing properties across Louisville, stocked solely by the donations of the company’s employees. | LDG Development, LLC

Last week, Molina Healthcare of New Mexico celebrated the unveiling of a new literacy vending machine at Arrey Elementary School during its Red Ribbon Week celebration. The literacy vending machine is the first of its kind at Arrey Elementary and will be stocked with both English and Spanish language books to encourage reading and learning among students. The MolinaCares Accord, in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Nebraska, presented a $50,000 check to the Clyde Malone Community Center in support of two programs focused on maternal and youth wellness. Half of the grant will help fund efforts to reduce Black infant and maternal mortality rates. The other half will provide resources for sports and wellness programs for BIPOC youth.
