Reflecting on the year we’ve had at Moksha Data Studio, I’m reminded of what we are driven by: the stories data tells, the teams we get to work with, and the changes we're making together. In 2023, we: ? started off the year working with Rest of World, a global newsroom covering technology outside the Western bubble. We worked together to create a series of visualizations of the global tech layoffs in 2023: https://lnkd.in/gh9XS9EU ? continued work with Absolute Rest https://lnkd.in/g-TiFV6N designing and building a web portal that visualizes sleep patterns and provides actionable insights for improving overall sleep quality and wellness. ? ? collaborated with nonprofits like the Houston Food Bank, and the Fiona Community Response Fund, both guiding decision-making and enabling immediate action in the face of disaster. Here’s to another year of fruitful collaborations with partners who want to bring their data to life ??

In earlier years, we spent weeks working on a community-centric analysis, pouring countless hours into crafting a perfect product. The result … Nothing changed. We analyzed the data and provided recommendations, and we were left asking, “Will this even make a difference?” While our work was well received, ultimately, the momentum we built dissipated. We needed to move on. We had sound findings, but we needed a better way to capture people’s attention. As clients repeatedly remarked on the captivating nature of our visuals, something in our brains clicked. We realized we needed to lean into the power of visual storytelling when working with data. The embers of Moksha Data dimmed that day. Out of the ashes, Moksha Data Studio was born. Now, we partner with organizations in the social sector to reenergize their data reporting with powerful visuals and tools.
